Repost- 14 Stations of the Cross craft Saturday, Feb 21 2009

I came up with this craft a few years ago and wanted to share it again this year. This 14 Stations of the Cross votive candle holder is very easy to make with your children and also inexpensive. The total cost was about $12.00.

I started with a piece of wood about 2 1/2 feet long and hot glued 14 glass votive candles on it.

Then I printed these black and white images of the 14 Stations of the Cross. The kids cut them and used a glue stick to paste them on the glass votives.

We light all 14 candles. After we read each station, we blow out a candle, and when we get to the last station, the room is dark and somber. It has made meditating on the stations very real to us.

For the little ones, I found these printable Stations of the Cross coloring pages.

This is a great chidren's book: The Story of the Cross: The Stations of the Cross for Children

Virgin Most Pure rosary bracelet Thursday, Feb 19 2009

Here is my latest creation which I'm adding to my rosary collection. It's a rosary bracelet made with memory wire, szech spacer beads and beautiful white gemstone beads. I attached a small crucifix on one end and as soon as I find a small miraculous medal I will add it to the other end. It only took about 25 minutes to make, just long enough for my husband to watch "Jeopardy" 🙂

I never seem to have a rosary on hand when I need one, especially when I'm at Mass. Most of my skirts don't have pockets, so it's difficult to carry a rosary with me and I rarely carry a purse with me, so I thought this might help out. What do you think? (comments are open)

Small Successes 5 Thursday, Feb 19 2009

FaithButton

  1. When my husband told me on Tuesday afternoon he would like lasagna for dinner that evening, I had Adrianna go to the grocery store on her way home from college and by the time he came home at 5:30, it was all done, the table was set and we were ready to eat.
  2. All the baby's cloth diapers are washed and dried and ready to be put away. Putting them away will be another small success 🙂
  3. I sent back 3 Netflix movies we had lying around for over a month. 2 of them didn't even get watched.

Do you have some small successes you'd like to share this week? Post them at Faith and Family Live

And the winner is… Thursday, Feb 19 2009

Rosary giveaway Sunday, Feb 15 2009

Wth an abundance of homemade rosaries, I have decided to give away this beautiful brown gemstone rosary on Wednesday, February 18th, feast of St. Simeon, bishop and martyr, which is celebrated in the Traditional calendar. I have really enjoyed making these rosaries and I look forward to some quiet time during the day to make them. It's almost addicting and a little theraputic after a long day. The only difficult part is finding matching spacer beads because the local bead store moved 30 minutes away 😦 I wish I was able to get better pictures of them. I haven't been able to find the right lighting in my house and I can't get photoshop to capture the true color of the beads.

Leave me a comment and I will draw a name on Wednesday evening at 8:00 pm. I will announce the winner on Thursday. May our Blessed Mother bless you all!
